    BUSY Week--Sneak PEEK!

    Until I have time to add all of the pictures I took this week, I wanted to give you a sneak peek!  We really, really enjoyed our trip to the Nutcracker and Gingerbread Festival!!!  

    There was a docent program before the Nutcracker began....we got to move through 3 stations of ballet dancers, learn from them, and ask questions.


    Ok, the camera had to be put away...and we were not allowed to take any pictures during the performance! :(

    Now, on to the Gingerbread Festival where we saw SO MANY delicious creations (made by preschoolers up to professionals)!!

    We wanted to try our hand at creating a gingerbread house on Friday morning.  The kids were very creative!  I think they were inspired by all the gorgeous houses we saw the day before!

    Then, in the afternoon, we surprised Miss Fullenkamp with a going away party!  
    Delicious cake and mints...made by my mom! :)
    We will miss her SO MUCH!!  But, she promises to come back to visit and be a substitute teacher at AC!  She's going to be a GREAT teacher!

    Apples, apples everywhere! September 25

    What an awesome week we had in 2nd grade!   We had our very first Tasty Tuesday...apple smiles!


    Then on Friday we celebrated Apple Day with LOTS of learning and fun!  Make sure to check out both of these pages to see all of the pictures!

    Readers and Writers!

    What have we been up to in 2C?  A LOT!!!  I am amazed at what awesome readers and writers we have in our class!  We are busy each day during reading workshop....working with a small reading group or working around the classroom at a center like these....
    Pocket Chart-where we put together poems, work on fluency, build silly sentences, and find rhyming words.


    Reading to Self

    Listening and reading along with stories on Bookflix and Tumblebooks.


    Listening Center

    Poetry-reading poems for fluency, illustrating, and looking for chunks of words we know.

    This week we started writing in our BRAND SPANKING NEW Writer's Notebooks.....they are pretty neat!  There's a special spot for our writing ideas, our writing planners, our writing, and resources we might need.  

    You should see these kids write!!  
    Our days are filled to the brim....I hope your child shares some of the great things we are learning with you!

    Back to School!

    It's hard to believe we've been in school a full week already!  It was a great week getting to know one another!  We are going to have an awesome year!
