The First Grade Teachers are planning and preparing for our second Family Fun Night, scheduled for December.  Traditionally, it has been our Pajama Night.

We are looking for ways to make the evening more meaningful to you and your child's learning.  We are open to ideas from all of you.  Specifically, what do you need assistance with?  Homework?  Understanding what the students do on a daily basis?  Getting a "real" handle on how we differentiate each day to meet individual student needs?

For example, was my Open House helpful to you?  Do you think other parents could benefit from a similar experience during our Family Fun Night?  Of course, it is best when it is student driven.

Please respond!  We are trying our best to build a strong parent/student/teacher relationship.  We want to meet the needs of each of our children and their families, but at the same time, make learning fun.

The challenge for the week is to ask your parents, their friends, relatives, or whoever your parents will let you, how they reached their goals.

You will want to ask the person or persons you interview:
    • What was your goal for a job/career when you were in school?
    • What did you do in school to try to reach that goal?
    • Did you go to college?
    • Did you go to trade school or other school?
    • Did you meet your goal?
    • How long did it take?
    • Are you glad you did?
    • Have you set new goals?
