Your task for this blog post may seem vague, but I want to give you free reign to interpret poetry; therefore, you must read "My Papa's Waltz" and then write a single body paragraph about the following:

What is the meaning of "My Papa's Waltz" by Theodore Roethke?

DO NOT tell me what the poem is ABOUT.
DO NOT look up analysis of the poem online, just use evidence from the poem to support whatever YOU think it means.
DO NOT become distressed. This is our first attempt writing about poetry, you will improve.

    - uses assonance, consonance, and alliteration at least once
    - your poem needs to be inspired by (but not necessarily about) the following picture:

    Happy Writing!

Ps. I wrote an example on the Block 5 blog if you want a little more guidance.

    - Compound
    - Complex
    - Complex-Compound

You have just finished (or are almost finished) with the film "Pearl Harbor" and now your job is to relate it to the novel "A Separate Peace". Answer the following question in a single body paragraph:

What is a similarity that you can find between the movie "Pearl Harbor" and the novel "A Separate Peace"?

    This similarity can be a...
    - theme (friendship, propaganda, war, peace, love, death, sanity, fear, etc.)
    - character relationships (Finny and Gene, Gene and Leper, Gene and adults, Gene and Quackenbush)
    - conflict
    - setting
    - anything you can think of AS LONG AS YOU DON'T REPEAT SOMETHING YOU CLASSMATES HAVE ALREADY SAID.

***Remember, you can argue any point AS LONG AS YOU PROVIDE EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT YOUR IDEAS. ***

    Your paragraph should include:
    - Defined topic sentence (that explains WHY this is your argument)
    - specific examples from the movie/novel
    - detailed analysis (at least two sentences per example)
    - transition between ideas
