    NC State's College of Textiles is having an open house on Saturday, October 15th from 9am-2pm. The College of Textiles is a unique college that offers degree programs in Fashion and Textile Design, Fashion and Textile Management, Polymer and Color Chemistry, Textile Engineering, and Textile Technology. The College of Textiles has the largest per-student college-based scholarship program at NC State.

    Any student interested in earning volunteer hours within our school and community should come to the Wildcat Initiative meeting on Friday, September 30th at 3:15 in the media center.     Seniors, the deadline to register for the October 22nd ACT is this Friday, September 16th. Get that last test score in before you finish your college applications! See us or Ms. Gentry if you need help with your registration.

    The Asheboro/ Randolph Teen Court program needs volunteers from all grade levels this year. The purpose of Teen Court is to involve young people in all aspects of the court system. Participating in Teen Court gives teens the opportunities to realize their role in the community. The goal of Teen Court is to intervene upon and prevent illegal behavior. If you are interested in getting volunteer hours, helping your peers, or furthering your education in the criminal justice field, Teen Court is for you!

    Seniors interested in being nominated for the UNC Charlotte Levine's Scholar Program should see their school counselor to be nominated to apply for the scholarship. The deadline for this scholarship is October 15th.

    The Levine Scholars Program seeks exceptional high school seniors who demonstrate a commitment to community service, hold an academic record that reflects a sustained passion for knowledge and possess a capacity for ethical leadership that elevates fellow students to a higher standard. The program takes the brightest, most capable students and gives them the tools, resources and environment they need to connect, transform and make a difference in the world. Levine Scholars receive:

    • An award for four years of tuition, room, board and mandatory fees
    • An $8,000 grant to implement a service project of their own design
    • Four summers of experiences including study abroad and NOLS
    • Access to a professional development fund
    • An undergraduate experience they will cherish for a lifetime
    The total value of this four-year scholarship is estimated at $105,000 for in-state students and $155,000 for out-of-state students.


    Levine Scholars are eclectic in their interests and pursuits. Our scholars have secured diverse internships at companies and agencies such as Apple, Google, Martha Stewart Living, the Manhattan Transit Authority and the Children's Defense Fund. Members of the first three graduating classes have gone on to explore and achieve at the highest levels. Four alumni are recipients of the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program grant; several are attending graduate school at Carnegie Mellon University, Johns Hopkins University, UNC Chapel Hill, University of Pennsylvania and the University of Texas at Austin; others are enrolled at medical school at East Carolina University, Rush Medical College in Chicago and UNC Chapel Hill; and one is a third-year law student at Stanford University. Our alumni can also be found at Google, Johnson & Johnson, Wells Fargo Securities and the U.S. Air Force. The sky is truly the limit for our scholars and alumni!

    10th and 11th graders planning on applying to 4 year colleges after high school should sign up for the PSAT, which will be Wednesday, October 19th at ERHS. Students can sign up on the sign up sheet outside of Student Services. The first time a student takes the PSAT it is free. The second time a student takes the PSAT it is $15 paid to ERHS.
