It is a great opportunity to learn something about how people live on the other side of the world. My hope is that this blog will provide a place for this type of learning. My friend Dan Norberg is currently working at a school in Indonesia on the island of Java. Recently we have been in communication and we thought starting up an exchange would be a good idea. Let me say a few things before I post the first prompt. I’m requesting that my students keep their writing plain and simple. English is a frustrating language as it is so please refrain from using obscure idioms! Dan, I don’t know if you have access to a scanner but this might be a nice way to personalize this a bit further. We could scan letters or perhaps artwork at some point.
Okay. Here’s the first prompt: Write about yourself! How old are you? What are your interests? Tell us about your family? Briefly describe each family member. After you post your response it may take a couple days before you can see your writing up on the blog. This is because I have to check them first. So please be patient.
