WHOA!!! It's 2009 already! So much has happened all around us over the past year that it's truly hard to believe a new one has just arrived. How do you feel about the start of a new year? Any predictions or resolutions you'd like to share for this 9th year of the 2000's? What goals or changes do you want to see happen with yourself? Your family? Your friends? Your school? Your neighborhood? Your town? Your state? Your country? Our world? What advice would you give to others to go about reaching their goals, keeping their resolutions, or making changes in their life? Maybe the first bit of advice is to acutally say and share your predictions, resolutions, goals and changes... like right here on our ILA blog! That way others can help you to stay on track and hold you to whatever you may desire to do ;)

It's that time of year to ponder and truly appreciate all the people, experiences, and opportunities you are thankful for. Life goes by so quickly that we often overlook or even forget those things for which we should be the most grateful. So, with this being Thanksgiving time, won't you take the time to share who or what you're thankful for and why? Celebrate your family and friends and Happy Turkey Day!!! MzA

Adam, from "Zebra", had always had an active imagination, pretending to run as if he were a zebra and fly like an eagle. But when the 'huge dark shadow' changed all that, Adam's imagination all but disappeared. With the help of Vietnam Vet John Wilson, Adam was able to once again tap into his imagination to deal with his struggles and ultimately change his life. What do you think about the power of imagination? Comment and/or share of its effects on you or someone you know...

Think back to Langston Hughes' tale of Roger and his experience with Mrs. Jones. Why do think Mrs. Jones ended up helping out the boy who was trying to steal from her? What might have happened to Roger to make him want to steal in the first place?

The tragedy that bestowed our country on 9/11/01 changed the lives of thousands of families who all dealt with their loss and devestation in different way. From today's discussion, audio, readings and images experienced at school, including the visit from author Carol Plum-Ucci, we were able to witness some of the ways in which they dealt with and are continuing to deal with what happened. Which to you was most profound? The most appropriate? The most memorable? Why

Do you think Victor will wind up getting Theresa to notice him? Infer, without reading ahead, whether or not you feel this will be the case. Think of what we know about Victor so far, and the qualities we've learned about Theresa, then post your ideas as to if you think Theresa will become Victor's 'girl'. Also, will Michael impress anyone with his scowling? Why or why not ?   ;)

OMG,  Yikes! I received two messages via blog and e-mail that some of my (former) students are moving out of state. One, Tyde, moved to Florida and Brendan K. told me he moved to North Carolina. Did anyone else move or is  anyone else planning on moving? Maybe we can do a pen pal/ blog buddy thing with your new 7th grade class(es).  Keep in touch you guys and best wishes to you in your new home in your new town in your new state.   You'll be missed...

Teachers recieved an e-mail saying that blogs can be added to their websites for school. Therefore, I'm giving this a trial run before I put my official 7th grade LA blog up. So, for now, if you're checkin' this out, comment on what you think about blogging in general or on how your summer has been so far.... TTYL   MzA
