Today was not our usual Monday.  We did a story unit with Strega Nonna.  We listened to a tape of Strega Nonna-Her Story, then we read the book.  After the book, we did an magic pasta pot project.  Later, after lunch, they watched a video of the story.  In between we did Scholastic News, printing, and spelling.  We hope everyone feels better tomorrow.  There will be a graphing test for math tomorrow.  Have a good night.

We had a wonderful day today!!! We truly enjoyed sharing our celebration with first grade.  We started our day with centers of all different kinds of activities.  The students played games, made trick or treat safety pumpkins, monster puppets, and completed Halloween fun sheets.  Lunch was a great "treat."  We enjoyed having Mr. Lobster (Mr. Clement in disguise) come and read to us.  We would like to thank Jillian and her family for the extra bags of treats and Kaitlin and her family for the puzzles and stamps.  It was all very fun.  Pictures are posted, so enjoy.  Have a wonderful and safe Halloween night.

Thank you to all the parents who made or brought something in to sell at our bake sale today!!!!  I have not officially counted it all yet, but it looks to about $20.  I'll post in the newsletter the exact amount.  The money will be saved until we are ready to go shopping sometime in the first week of December.  Our next opportunity to raise money for our Adopt-A-Child Christmas Project will be sent home next week.  It's a raffle for a homemade apple pie.

Today we had fun carving our classroom pumpkin.  They voted on the ghost pattern or the jack-o-lantern pattern.  You'll have to see our pictures to find out which pattern won.  I am looking forward to all the Halloween fun on Friday.  Remember, all routine Friday tests will be tomorrow.  Have a great night!

We were treated to DELICIOUS apple crisp from the Kindergarten class today.  It was a great surprise.  We were also apoted through the Adopt a Classroom program.  I was able to purchase a new rug for the room.

I am very impressed with the students in second grade.  They did a great job of remembering our routine in the morning.  They also got complemented on their behavior in the lunch room today.  I am sure you are very proud of them.  Have a great evening.  Our first math test will be tomorrow!

Tonight starts their first official night of homework.  The written portion should take no longer than 20 minutes.  The time spent on practicing Little Miss Muffet depends on your comfort level with your child.
Students who returned the Highlights interest forms will all receive a homework pass.  This pass is for one evening, free of homework, at the parents discretion.  Parents must initial the pass in order for it to be valid.  Thank you to all who returned the forms already.  Your child's pass should be sent home tomorrow.  Have a great evening.  I am looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday evening.

Well, we survived our first week back to school.  We had a fun day today.  We went on a tour of the school and used our cameras to help us remember.  The students told me they were "downloading the images" of the teachers and the classrooms into their brains.  We celebrated Mary's birthday (9/8) by coloring cup cakes.  The students got to become scientists and made observations about our classroom.  Finally, they did a scavenger hunt around the room.

Please have your child read "So Long Summer," over the weekend.  They will be assessed on their oral reading skills next Friday with that text.
