Today we read our Time For Kids - 2009 A Year In Pictures.  This issue recognizes big events from this past year.  Which one is your favorite and why?  For example:  My favorite picture of 2009 is of Flight 1549.  I think the pilot of that plane is a true hero for bringing it's passengers to safety.

Tonight you did your 20 minutes of reading.  What book did you read?  Who is the author?  Tell me in two to three complete sentences what your story is about.  Be sure to underline your title and use capital letters where appropriate.  I will be checking for spelling grades on this assignment, so be sure to be neat.  I can't wait to hear about the great stories you are reading at home!

Part 1 - If you were to estimate how many pieces of candy you will collect on Halloween, what would be your guess?  Think about how long you will go trick-or-treating or about how many houses you will visit.  Please state your answer in a complete sentence.  (example:  I think that I will collect 100 pieces of candy on Halloween.)

Part 2 - Now that you have gone trick-or-treating, count out your candy.  How many pieces did you get altogether?  What is the difference in your prediction and your actual number? (example:  I must have been trick-or-treating longer than I planned.  I collected 155 pieces of candy on Halloween.  The difference was 55 pieces.  155-100=55)
