Please respond to one or more points made by Nicole on the video you just watched.

    Nicole’s Story: Copyrighting Creative Work
    1. Nicole is a creator when she writes stories. What are some times when you’ve been a creator? Have you ever shared your art, writing, music, videos, or ideas online?
    2. How do you think the Internet and Booksie.com help Nicole as a writer? What are some of the benefits Nicole describes?
    3. Why is the copyright protection on Booksie.com so important to Nicole? What could happen if there was no copyright protection?
    4. Nicole talks about being influenced by others online but also about making sure not to steal others’ ideas. What do you think is the difference between being influenced by other authors and stealing their ideas?
    5. Based on Nicole’s story, it sounds like most of the feedback she gets is positive. Have you ever seen people post critical or mean feedback online in response to other peoples’ creations? What advice would you give to someone who was upset about comments from people on the Internet?

    Boys and Girls,

Can you imagine what Mongoose and Weasel might be like as adults? Based on our story describe each character as a grown up. Be sure to include what kind of job they may have and what their family life might be like. Please include your reasons.

Have fun with this final blog post, and remember our blogging rules! Write as descriptively as possible so others can comment and really visualize your grown up character.

Why is the book I Wonder meaningful to Mongoose? Do you think the book I Wonder is anything more than a good book? Explain why the book might be more than just a good book. You can think about all of our characters in the story while answering this question.

Why is it important to Mongoose?
Why is it important to the librarian? The store keeper? Weezel? Mongoose's mother? Mrs. Pocopson?

     Hello 5th grade!

What is a blog and its purpose? A blog is an online journal where you can write reflections, post articles, upload pictures, add links to other websites and generally keep to a common theme. Why blog? Because in a few weeks we are going to be sharing ideas about the book The library card by Jerry Spinelli. Other students can read your posts and comment as well.

First, we are going to start slow and write about safety online, online manners and meaningful writing. Get ready!

Your first post will be about the experience of blogging. What do you know about a blog, and what do you think you will learn? Hint: what are the rules and safety concerns all about?

    Mrs. L
