80+ degree weather? In April? Crazy, yet I have to admit that I loved it. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and my air conditioner at home was running--for all of two days. Now the furnace is back on. Those few warm days were teasers. I don't know about you, but I am thinking we are closer to the end of the school year than we really are due to those several glorious days.

In the meantime let's stay focused on what we need to accomplish. Keep up your work on math and reading as the OAA Test is scheduled for the end of this month. See how many prepositional phrases you can find in this blog. Remember to recycle your water bottles and pop cans in the hallway recycling containers.

The warm weather will soon return and, before you know it, the school year will be over. I'm always both happy and sad when that happens. How about you?

Where did January and February go? I suppose those twelve snow days we had this winter had something to do with the days flying by.

So, here it is--March. The sun has been shining and the temperature rising all week.  The snowflake decorations are boxed up and the spring bunnies now abound in my classroom. I definitely have spring fever. How about you?

As the song title proclaims, "It's the most wonderful time of the year."  The decorations are up, the lights are lit, the music is playing, and the cookies are baking.  The best part of the season is the time we all get to spend with family and friends.  Enjoy this time with your family and friends.  I will see you January 4th!

Well, here we are at the beginning of a new month and a new grading period. If your grades in your various classes were not what they could have been, now is the time to start anew. Think about what you would like to accomplish. Set goals or mini-goals for yourself. Above all, believe in yourself for each of you is unique. You all add to each class dynamic. I wouldn't have it any other way.

This is going to be such a fun week! I cannot wait to hear all of your wonderful and amazing stories. We are going to do something different this year: we will audio tape each story as it is read. You all can help me decide what to do with the recordings: make a class CD, make a combined CD, make a Halloween story podcast, make all of these things? We will discuss it in each class session. How exciting!

October is my favorite month: the leaves begin to turn colors, the days become cooler, the apples ripen on the trees--all good things. The best part, however, is Halloween and the stories that my students write. In my classroom appear all sorts of creepy crawly critters and talking creatures--the starting points and inspirations for the creative writing project. On the last few days before Halloween, we turn down the lights, turn up the sound effects CD's, and share the stories. What could be a better pairing than learning and fun?
