This is one of Jayber's favorite poses and spots in the house.
He'll be turning two in December. We've had him for about 1
year, after rescuing him from the streets of Tennessee.

    Friends,
Did you know that an area not too far from here played an important part in the Civil War? Check out this article from Sunday's Cincinnati Enquirer.

    Friends,
This Sunday's Cincinnati Enquirer featured a pretty cool article about the founder of the Brent Spence Bridge in Cincinnati. His name was Brent Spence!
Check out the link below to see photos of him and the bridge while it was being built:

    Friends:

Mr. Renner cherishes his Catholic Faith and the Church. He believes that salvation comes through Jesus. However, Mr. R does teach about other major world religions. In 6th grade, students are learning about Islam, the world's second largest religion. Several years back, Mr. R visited a Mosque, a Muslim house of worship. Their official name is "Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati". Some pictures from this experience were shared in class. Here are a few of those snapshots
    .

The pictures inside the Mosque didn't turn out too well due to the flash feature on Mr. Renner's camera. It is very different than our catholic church experience. There's no furniture, statues, or pictures. You will find some Koran scripture verses on a couple of the walls. The dress code is strict. Women have a couple additional dress requirements such as wearing a scarf on their head. Modesty is important to many Muslim women. Everyone has to take off their shoes before entering the main area of the Mosque.

Overall, I enjoyed this Saturday morning visit many years ago.

This year in Social Studies, we'll be closely examining many groups who may have some belief systems different from our own. That's part of learning History. However, Mr. Renner strives to always come full circle and explore these ideas in light of our own Catholic, Christian Faith. He's excited that you are going to be part of this adventure
    .

    Hello, friends.

We've rescued a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Jayber.  Our fingers are crossed & we're hoping this adoption works out. It's the 2nd dog we've tried. He seems to get along well with our rabbit, Gandalf. He's been a mighty fine addition to our home...

The blog is yours, comment away ...

    Hello, friends.

Mr. Renner is considering the bold step of getting a dog, hopefully from a rescue location. We're researching different dogs and how best to care for them. We want a special canine who will mingle well with our beloved rabbit, Gandalf. We're in no hurry, but are excited at the prospect of this new adventure!

What kind of dog do you have? What kind should we get?
What makes for the best kind of dog?
Any special tips on how best to care for them?

Questions abound. The blog is yours ...

    Rock on.
