The 100th day of school is one of my favorite days of the year!  I love all of the projects and activities we do around the number 100.  What was your kindergarteners favorite activity?

    Hello Families,

December is quickly coming to an end and winter break will be here before we know it!  Many families agreed to have their child take home a Winter Work Pack: YAY!  This is a great way to practice kindergarten skills while we are not at school.

One cool idea in the pack is to have your child write me a letter!  I have included my address and some instructions.  It is important to let your child write the letter.  Of course you may help them; encourage inventive spelling(sounding out words and writing down those letters) and to use lightning words and hunks and chunks.  If they write me a letter, I will gladly write them one back :)

Over Winter Break, I will be looking at our RAZ-kids levels and adjusting them if necessary.  Please remember to have your child  P A C E themselves!  Set a goal of only reading 2-3 books a week, and of course, re-read them!

I hope you enjoy the time off with your family.  I am excited for Noah's 2nd Christmas and all of the traditions he is beginning to understand.  I look forward to what the new year will bring in Kindergarten! :)  Happy Holidays!

November is a short, yet busy month!  We have quite a few days off of school with Conferences and Thanksgiving Break.

We have been journaling for about a month now and our writing is starting to take off.  Everyday, the students spend about 15 minutes working on writing.  We are working on building "stamina" when we illustrate and write.  So far, we are at 7 minutes of drawing and 6 minutes of writing: with NO talking or interruptions!  That is a hard thing to do in Kindergarten :)

I am very excited to show you the progress your kindergartener has made so far.  I will share their personal writing journal with you at conferences too!  I look forward to meeting with you to discuss how your child is doing.  Please be sure to arrive on time, as our meeting is only 15 minutes.

Does your child talk to you about their day in Kindergarten?  What is their favorite part of the day?

Our field trip to the apple orchard is this Thursday!  We have been counting down the days on our calendar all month and it is finally here.

Please be sure to check the weather and dress accordingly.  We will still go if it is raining-- so be sure to dress your child in something you wouldn't mind seeing dirty :)  This is such a fun field trip-- the kids have a blast!  If you are unable to attend, I will be taking many photos to post on the website.

Be sure your child is at school on time.  We will be leaving right after announcements (9:15ish) and return to school for lunch around 12:00.  If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a message.

Thank you so much for visiting our Kindergarten website!  This is a great place to see what is going on in room 14.  I hope the picture icons make it easier for your kindergartener to navigate.  Please check back frequently, as I often update the photo albums!

If you have any questions... or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment!  I look forward to this school year :)
