Three men walk into a hotel. The manager is out, so the bell boy tells the men that their rooms will be ten dollars each for the night. Each man gives the bell boy a ten dollar bill and he shows them to their rooms. When the manager returns he informs the bell boy that the total for their rooms is only twenty-five dollars, not thirty. The manager gives the bell boy five dollars and instructs him to return their change. In the elevator the bell boy is confused how to split five dollars amoung three people, so he pockets two dollars and returns one dollar to each man.
Here is the problem: The men paid ten, but got a dollar back - that amounts to nine dollars each or a total of twenty-seven dollars. The bell boy pocketed two dollars. Twenty-seven plus two is twenty-nine dollars. Where did the other dollar go?
