Hello everyone!  I've made some changes and added info to the site.  You'll find the OPEN HOUSE info for the Secondary schools.  Also, you will find our Dec. newsletter and our Term Two independent project on the site.

Don't forget, this Friday is our STUDENT LED CONFERENCES.  Students are expected to lead their mom or dad or both in the interview.  AFTER ALL, it's about them, it's for them!

Wow!  What a great day today.  I think a lot of my students enjoyed the experience.  It was great to see the students involved in the classes and actively participating.  Some great advice was handed out by the Simcoe staff to our students about expectations and the school, in general.  Of course, it's always great to see former students as they tell you about their experiences at Simcoe.  One issue that always pops up  is the pace of math class.  It is quick.

Just a thanks to the students for a great day and also to the Simcoe staff for organizing the day.

Hello everyone!  Students were given a math assignment to work on over the next two weeks.  This is due on the 30th of this month.  Students also have two presentations to prepare for over the next little while.  I hope that they are finding the time to prepare for this and plan what it is that they are going to present.

The workload will only increase from this point onwards, so students need to really improve on their time management.

    That's it for now!

    Hi parents:
Just a quick note to let you know that I will be sending Mark Book codes and Class Performance checklists home next week.  I will email them, mail them or give them to your child.

    Thanks,
    Mr. D

Parents, just a quick note on what's happening in class.  In English, we are looking at the idea of Social Justice and narrative writing.  Also, we will begin the examination of short stories.  Hopefully, students are working on their Hero Presentations and write ups.

In Math, students are continuing the review of exponents, factors, multiples,  and other number concepts.

In general, I am extremely pleased with the transition of students into grade 8.  One area that I have concerns about is the lack of focus by some students in class (too much talking) or discipline towards school work ( not completing work)  Hopefully, this will change over the next month or so.

Other than this, all is well.
    Have a great day!

    Hello parent(s) and students:

Just a few tidbits.  Students should be working on their Hero write ups as they are due in a week.  Also, if you do not have any homework, why not organize your binders!  Organization does lead to success.  We will have a busy few weeks ahead of us.  Our English and math classes will be extremely busy.  So be prepared!

A great big thanks to all of you who have returned their forms and money. Sept 14 is the due date for my forms.  Keep them coming.

As for homework, none yet, but students were given their independent assignment topics.
