Using your climate map, choose a climate of the world that you would like to live in.  Write an essay describing that climate and why you would like to live in a region with that climate.  Be sure to include the following:

1- Give at least three reasons why you would like to experience that climate and/or the things you could do in that climate as compared to the one you live in.

2- You should include a country or countries you would like to live in that enjoy this type of climate.  You could also mention what landforms you think you might see, or which landforms you would like to live near and why?

The length of the essay should be long enough to state a thesis (topic sentence), and then include all of the above specifics: 3 reasons, countries within climate region, landforms.  You should also try to make your essay as interesting as possible for the readers.

You may also review the below website or do your own Internet search if you would like more information on the different types of climates.

After reading the essay on the causes and effects of the Iraq war, and/or doing your own research, you need to write your own essay explaining your opinion.  Do you think we should have invaded Iraq and removed Saddam Hussein as dictator?  Using the information you learned from the essay and any other site you wanted to use, back up your opinion in a 3 paragraph persuasive essay.  You should use 2-3 details in your body paragraph to support your opinion.

The essential question for this unit is "Why do they hate us?"  This is a question Americans ask themselves when they see images of foreigners burning American flags and chanting "Down with America" like the ones we saw when we watched the clips from the Obsession movie.  Why do these people feel this way?  Why do they hate us?

When answering this question, you need write a well thought out response which incorporates the information we discussed over the past two weeks.  Topics to include would be the history behind the creation of Israel, colonization of the Middle East in the past and today, Israeli-Arab conflicts, Israeli-Palestinian conflict, United States and Israeli relations, the two Iraq wars and the importance of oil in the middle east and to the world.

The rubric for your response is as follows:
"A" response has an engaging introduction, a body paragraph which includes 2-3 details from our discussions which answer the essential question, and a conclusion which wraps up your essay.
"B" response has an introduction, a body paragraph with 2 details from our discussion to answer the essential question and a conclusion
"C" response has a brief introduction a body paragraph with 1-2 supporting details and a brief conclusion
"D" response is an essay which is not organized in the appropriate format (intro, body, conclusion)
"F" response that shows very little effort, has no intro or conclusion and barely answers the essential question

The film Obsession can be classified by some as a collage of lies and prejudices.  Others may claim that it is thought provoking and informational.  While some will say it shows the hate that persists in the world, but that it is misleading in how it represents Muslims.  What do you think?  In your first paragraph, explain your opinion of the movie.  In your second paragraph, explain the effects a movie like this has on its viewers.
