Think about this saying:  "Ignorance is bliss."  What does this (old) saying mean?  Do you think it's true?  Why or why not?  I hope to get some good discussion going on this topic, and we will revisit this saying again at the end of reading "Flowers for Algnernon"...

Here's a situation - you've been chosen as the first human eligible to receive a brain operation that, if successful, will triple your intelligence.  The operation, though never performed on a human, has been performed on mice and has been highly successful in mice.  Think about what you could do with this level of intelligence - the opportunities you could have and the good you could do for mankind...  But also give thought to the experimental nature of the surgery.  Furthermore, are there ethical and moral issues involved?  Would you take this chance?  Why or why not?  If you would take this chance, what would you do with this opportunity?
