Have you ever heard of the Great Mail Race? The Great Mail Race is an activity to learn more about other sixth graders across the country. This activity will also help practice letter writing skills and research skills. Students choose one or two states then select a school from the state’s capital to write to. They will then write a letter to the school(s) they have chosen including information about the Great Mail Race, about our state/city/community/school, and about themselves. Once the letters are ready, they will be mailed to the school and then we wait for replies. Our goal is to receive a letter from every state in the country!
