    One of our parents; Mrs. DeLucca, found a really neat app to help the kids practice their weekly spelling words.  Here is the information if anyone else is interested.

    First Day of School

    Welcome!
    Our first day of school went well!  The children were wonderful listeners.  I am sure it was a lot to take in for one day!  So many new things.  They were troopers though.  We worked on getting a daily routine in place and even got a nice head start on our reading and math lessons.  Tomorrow is art day.  If your child has a smock, please send it in.  A note will be coming home soon from the art teacher about smocks. 
    Please look through the binder that came home with your child today and return the emergency forms as soon as possible. 
    I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next few weeks!

    First Day Of School

    Dear Families,
    We survived the first day!  It was a very warm day, but the kids worked hard even though it was rough beating the heat.  Please make sure you fill out the forms that came home today!  We have a birthday party to celebrate tomorrow and I really need the medical forms back so that I can make sure we do not have any food allergies!
    I look forward to meeting all of you!

    P.S. Make sure you fill out both sides of the forms!

    More Snow...More Rescheduling!!!

    Well the snow has once again messed up our schedule.  Our review test that was suppose to be this Friday is now rescheduled for next Friday.  I have to push it back an entire week because of Terra Nova Testing.  We will be taking the Terra Nova Standardized Test on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  That is if it does not snow again :)  Thursday will be used for make-ups.  There will be no regular homework this coming week due to the Terra Nova!

    The Field Trip

    The children were very disappointed this morning when they realized that the field trip was canceled.  It would have been a really lousy day up at the pumpkin patch so as sad as it was, it is a good thing we did not go!  I believe we are working on a rescheduled day for the trip.  More information will be coming as soon as I know more.  We had an afternoon Halloween movie today with Ms. Bantel and Mrs. Novicki's classes to try to make up for some of the kid's disappointment.  So they still have a little bit of a treat!  Some of the kids brought money in for the field trip.  I have it locked up until we go so if you are looking for it, I have it kept in a safe place!

    Telling sentences written by the kids

    Happy Halloween!
    Today we went into the computer lab to write telling sentences on our classroom blog.  These sentences are about Halloween.  I have assigned the children their own "nicknames" rather than using their real names on the internet.  Please ask your child what his her "nickname" is so that you can see his/ her work!  Click on the "comments" button to view their sentences.  You may also add your own comment about your child's work!

    Spelling Tests

    Our Treasures have finally arrived!  I showed the prizes to the kids in class today.
    I ordered a whole bucket full of treasures for spelling class.  Each time your child builds up 5 correct bonus words from the spelling tests, he/she will be able to pick a treasure from the bucket.  You can keep up on how many bonus words your child has when the tests come home.  Next to the bonus you will see a number with a circle around it.  This indicates how many correct bonus words he/ she has so far!  Right now we have had 3 spelling tests so if your child got all 3 bonus words correct, only 2 more words are needed to get a treasure!

    Skyward; our grading system, is now up and running.  You should be able to log in and view your child's grades!  Just click on the "keeping up with my child's grades" link and type in your user name and password.
