    Cool Cats,
Thanksgiving is a time I always spend with my family.  We used to celebrate with all of my cousins and their cousins, too, but now that I'm married, I celebrate Thanksgiving with my husband's family one year and my family the next year.
My favorite part of our celebration is the big feast!  My mom makes the BEST dressing, and I look forward to getting a second helping of it each year.  When our celebrations were bigger (with all of my cousins), we had lots of different tables.  Since I am the youngest in the family, I always had to sit at the "Kid's Table."  Now we can all fit at one table so I get to eat with the adults.   After we eat, we usually sit around and talk, and most of the men watch football.
What are some of the traditions that you have on Thanksgiving?

    Cool Cats,

We are about to start a new unit in Social Studies, and I'm so excited about it!  We're going to learn about our community of Greenville and how it has changed over time!  There are some things that I'm glad have changed, but there are some things I wish were the same.  I would have liked seeing all of the old style cars that people drove back then, but I would NOT have liked teaching without computers!

What do you think Greenville was like when your grandparents were little?  What is something that you would NOT have liked about living "back in the good old days"?  What is something that you would have LOVED about living "back in the good old days"?

    Cool Cats,

I spent my weekend at home and at the lake.  My husband and I were able to complete lots of around-the-house chores, and we went to the Furman game on Saturday night.  He went to Furman for college, so we like going to the games when we can.  Furman won!

Then on Sunday, we went to the lake to relax.  We took my dog, Girl, and she enjoyed sleeping on the couch for most of the day.   We spent today looking around antique stores in Walhalla.  I'm completely rested and ready for a new week!  What did you enjoy doing on your long weekend?

I am so excited to have 17 new "Cool Cats" in Room 221!  This is my first time blogging, and I can't wait for my new students to get involved, too!  I'll be posting a question or thought from time to time, and I invite the "Cool Cats" and other friends to post their thoughts on our blog.

Our first day of school is Tuesday, August 19.  This is always a fun time for me.  I get nervous , excited , anxious , and eager before that first day!  How do you feel just before the first day of school?
