What a great day.  I'm happy to have met my new students and look forward to our year together.  It's such fun for me to see students from past years who've grown and changed so much over the summer.  I also like to meet the folks who started East today, coming from many different middle schools.
Another highlight of my day was that my little boy started kindergarten.  My husband took him to school and said our son was beaming as he got in line with his teacher's class.  It's hard to believe my "baby" is starting school, but then again, I know he's ready and hope he'll succeed and learn to love elementary school.

My goal is to help all "my kids" have a productive year, and to become a better teacher (and mom), too.  I'll try to keep an updated post of my progress.

How did you feel about your first day at East?

What did you do over summer break?

Some highlights of my summer included:

Annual beach trip                      North Carolina mountains

I also had fun reading (Speak and Ender's Game were great, don't you think?); spending time just being a mom; taking a yoga class with Mrs. Kroeger; meeting Mr. Ball, our new principal; seeing Ms. Pisapia in a play; and getting ready to start another great year at ELMS.

I hope you'll let your classmates and me know what you did this summer by "commenting" below.
