Plain and simple - What are you thankful for?  You can give a list or a paragraph.  Think of the little things in life that you are happy about.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!

We read Chris Van Allsburg's The Wretched Stone and discoved that sometimes things we are really interested in are not so good for us.  The crew aboard the ship lost many of their abilities due to the addiction they had to watching the glow of the stone.

What is YOUR wretched stone?  What can you not live without?  What takes all your attention away from things that are good for you?

What forces have you applied today?  Make a detailed list of the pushes and pulls.

We have been in school over a month now.  I can't believe it is October.  I have really enjoyed teaching you and getting to know you better.  I would like to know how you think the year is going so far.  What are some things you have learned?  Do you have a favorite lesson?  Is there anything that is challenging for you?  I look forward to reading your comments.  Don't forget to check back to see what your classmates have to say.

    Welcome to Third Grade!!

I am so excited to be starting a new school year with you.  I love the first days of school - new crayons, blank pages in spirals waiting to be filled with learning, new haircuts, and a sense of adventure.

As I start this 15th year of teaching 3rd grade, I think - does it get old?  The answer is no!   There is always something to learn, a new friend to make, and of course... new books to read.  I hope you are as excited as I am to get started.  I know it can be kind of scary starting something new but think of it this way - it's a chance to start fresh. I would like to know what you are excited about doing this year.  What do you think 3rd grade will be like?  What are you nervous about?

As you walk into school on Tuesday morning remember this... Be brave.  Even if you're not - act like it.  No one can tell the difference.

    To a great year -
    Mrs. Rubin
