    For the test on Dia de los Muertos be sure to know the following:

    ofrendas = offerings
    cemetarios = cemetaries
    calaveras = skulls
    Nov. 1 = day for the deceased children
    Nov. 2 = day for the deceased adults
    Oaxaca = southern state in Mexico, famous for their big celebrations
    Velas = Candles, attract the spirits to the offrendas
    decorar = decorate
    hacer una ofrenda = to make an altar
    van al cemetario = they go to the cemetary
    celebrar = to celebrate

    Most will be matching and multiple choice questions, but you will need to write a five sentence paragraph in spanish about the traditions of this holiday.
    You can write sentences like:
    El dia de los muertos es un dia muy importante en mexico.  Mucha gente (people) celebra los difuntos (deceased).  Es comun hacer una ofrenda y decorar los criptas.  En la noche, la gente va al cemetario para celebrar y tener una fiesta.

    Today in class, we reviewed the important points in chapters para empezar to 4b.  We divided up into groups and began creating mini projects for the chapters.  We are going to take these mini projects and put them on a tic-tac-toe board.  Tomorrow, students will have to pick "3 en raya" three in a row for their project.  We will do presentations thursday and friday this week.  This is our first major grade for the six weeks.
