    First off let me say I am a very proud grandmother!   I would like to share one of many photos with you!
    Our class is going well. We are busy learning and working hard. Guided Reading Groups have started so please by reading with your child nightly and signing the daily folder. If your child does not return their book daily they do have to go to study hall and read for 10 minutes. Please help your child become responsible and bring the daily folder and their baggie bag. I have ordered a bag for the Guided Reading books, but they  have not come in yet.
    We are busy working on addition, subtraction in Math. Please be working on the basic Math facts at home. This will help them in the upper grades. We are doing a science investigation in the science lab this week! The children are very excited we are Classifying Matter.
    Please sign up for a conference if you have not! My goal is to meet with every family! Let me know day and time that would be good for you!

    Week of Sept. 12-16

    Hope you are having a good weekend. I am patiently waiting to hear from my daughter in hopes to have my first grandchild soon. My daughter Jenna and her husband, Tucker are due with our first grandchild on the 15th, but the doctor thought she might come early. So, I maybe out a couple of days this week. 
    We are very excited to have Mayra Gracia as a student teacher this semester! She is from Texas State University and started with us this past week. She will be observing and eventually teaching for a couple of weeks. It helps so much to have another person in the room.
    Your children have really fell back into the routine of school and they are working hard. Right now the children are self selecting guided reading books, as soon as I finish the DRA testing we will start guided reading groups.
    If you have not signed up for a conference you still have time. If you need another day or time please let me know. Also, Mrs. Gracia would like to sit in on the conferences if that is okay with you. If you would rather not have Mrs. Gracia with us please let me know that too!

    The First 2 days of school!

    The first 2 days of school have been great! We are getting introduced to the 1st grade curriculum. If you were at DFT last year we are continuing on with the Daily 5. The Daily 5 is choices the children can make during the Guided Reading time. I work with a group and the other children can choose from Read to Self, Read with Someone, Listen to Reading orWord Work. I will send Guided Reading books home about the 3rd week of school. Please read with your child and then sign the daily folder, send it back the next day.

    Glad to Meet you!

    So glad to meet 19 out of 20 families that will be in my class this year! The one's of you that brought supplies on Back to School Night I have those put up and ready to go for Tuesday. If you didn't bring your supplies on Back to School Night bring them Tuesday. If you can't find a certain item don't worry we have enough supplies to start the year. You can get the missing item when you find it! I am looking forward to Tuesday. I am neverous and excited....so I will be reading First Day Jitters. We will take a tour of the school for those of you new to DFT. We will talk about the TRIBES Agreements..Those are agreements we follow throughout the building! So, get ready First Grade Here We Come! I am looking forward to a great year!

    Getting Ready for School!

     Hi new First Graders and Family Members!
       Yes! Mrs. Walker has moved to 1st grade and I am so excited! I loved kindergarten, but when Mrs. Duffy gave the opportunity to teach 1st grade, I said "Yes!" So here I am!
       I am so excited to be part of such a great team of teachers!
       I hope to see you on supply night and I am looking forward to an exciting school!
    SEE YOU AUGUST 18th @ 5:00!
