We had a busy week with assessments in reading, spelling and math. The kids had fun interviewing their new classmates and creating "Friendship Books". In science we read the book The Fungus That Ate Our School, and started growing our very own fungus in the classroom as a science experiment. I am sure they can not wait until Monday to check their experiments. We also visited our school library and checked out books. Some kiddos took their books home, they just need to bring them back on Thursday.
Homework this week consists of composing a list of different things they can write about throughout the year and a math worksheet. Also, please continue to use the reading log to document reading. In the class website I added a Homework Handout section. Here you will be able to print reading logs or homework handouts. Remember homework is due on Thursdays
In the homework folders I also sent Scholastic book order forms. They have some great books for just a dollar. The deadline for book orders is September 12.
Grandparents were invited to join the kiddos for lunch on Friday to celebrate Grandparent's Day.
It was nice meeting Samuel's grandparents. Hopefully I'll get to meet more grandparents on Monday.
Next week we will be learning about matter in science, about nouns in language arts, and place value in math.
