These photos are tardy - but wanted to share them with the families.  Zach Scott has wonderful interactive plays for children.  We enjoyed our time at their play which taught us about sustainability  and being good caretakers of our earth.

Mr. Holecamp from Southwest Dairy Assoc.  demonstrated how cows give us milk and the nutritional value of milk.
He showed us how a dairy farmer operates the dairy farm.

Activities throughout the week focused our attention on college and preparing for our chosen careers.
School is an important place to prepare for our futures.  We decorated our door to show the career: farmer.
We researched the type of education one needs and the type of college to attend in order to become a farmer.
We also discussed which elementary school subjects would prepare us to be a farmer.

Friday, one of our classmates "dressed for success" as a pet veterenarian.
Texas A&M University would be a good choice for either of the careers:  vet or farmer.

We sorted and graphed our "teddy bears" (some are other stuffed animals) by SIZE.
Which size had the most bears?   Why does "large/big"  look like so many more than "small?"

It was a great first week, very smooth and we're off and running on our new year.  Thanks for all the preparation done by the parents.  The children were mannerly, hard workers, good listeners and kind friends.
You'll notice below that most of us felt happy about coming to our new class.

Thank you families for attending the Meet the Teacher event.  It was wonderful to meet each student and their family members.  Tuesday will be a great 1st day.  Remember to go to bed early and TRY to get a good night's sleep.
We will be reading and talking about Teddy Bears.  Do you have a teddy bear?  Do you sleep with it?
    See you soon.......
    Love, Mrs. T
