If you have a general or procedural question that might be informative for all parents to hear, please post it in our blog.  We will write back as quick as an email.  Please don't ask personal questions about your child in this forum.

    Thank you,

What is the one thing I can do to help my child the most?

READ with your child. It is best to sit with your child and follow along as
they read, but better than nothing would be to let them read to you while
you are working in the kitchen or outside. Read to them -- they are not too
old to have stories read to them! Making time to read each day is the MOST
important thing you can do for your child.

What rooms are you in these days?

You can find us upstairs towards the far right side of the annex building.
Ms. Williams is in Room 34. Ms. Smith is next door in 35, and Ms. Brown is
still one further in 36. Remember to sign in at the front office before
    coming upstairs to visit.

When does my child have library?

Orange Team has Library on Tuesdays
Green Team has Library on Wednesdays
Purple Team has Library on Thursdays

What time is Ancillary/Fourth Grade Conference Period?

Our conference period is from 9:15-9:40 p.m. Please make an appointment
so we can all be present to save you time and trips to the school. Thank you!

    Rewards

We are using class All-Star Bucks this year. Money is
earned for homework, projects, reaching reading levels, answering challenge
questions, winning problem solving competitions, or by answering oral questions
from a content area text. Your child should have a copy of the fee schedule.

What are the different certification levels for AR Reading?

    10 points -- Independent Reader
15 points and three 1.0 books -- Super Reader
25 points and three 2.0 books -- Advanced Reader
50 points and three 4.0 books -- STAR Reader

    How are birthdays celebrated?

You are welcome to bring a birthday snack of cupcakes, muffins, fresh fruit
and real fruit juice. We can serve the snack in our rooms or in the outdoor
    classroom from 12:30-1:00.

    What are Bluebonnet Projects?

Students will produce a creative project which portrays some aspect of the
Bluebonnet book that the child has already read and passed the AR test on.
In addition to grades given for the creative project, students will take an
AR test. Some copies are available at our school library, but most
children will need to go to their local branch of the Houston Public Library
and borrow the book. Copies can also be purchased at bookstores. If you
have further questions, please call Ms. Williams before or after school.
    Thank you.

How many AR points does my child have to have now?

We are keeping the children on track for their upcoming deadlines which
means that we will insist upon increments that will help them read the grade
level reading goals. These are approximate dates and are subject to change.
According to the reading contract students will have AT LEAST, but not
    limited to:
    October 13th -- 15 points -- Independent Certification -- 3 Bluebonnets
    December 10th -- 35 points -- Super Certification -- 5 Bluebonnets
    February 16th -- 55 points -- Advanced Certification -- 8 Bluebonnets
    April 20th -- 11 Bluebonnets
    May 1st -- 75 points -- STAR Certification for Extra credit -- 12 Bluebonnets
