We are back from winter break and have hit the ground running.  There is much to learn as we prepare your kiddos for 4th grade.  Please make sure that your child is reading a minimum of 20 minutes nightly.  This is crucial to their reading success and progress.  In addition, please know that your child is receiving spelling words every week.  Although there are not assigned homework activities, we encourage you to have your child practice their words nightly.  Their spelling tests are every Friday.  On the links section, we have posted a link to a great website called Spelling City that is fun and will help your child achieve mastery of their spelling words.  Also, don't forget that First In Math is a website that will assist your child in improving his/her math skills.  The kids love earning their virtual "stickers" and strive to be player of the day for most "stickers" earned.

***In case you haven't heard, holiday parties will be on Friday, December 18th.  They will begin at 11:30 and go until lunch time.

***The third grade teachers would like to provide charitable assistance this holiday season to the Ronald McDonald House of Austin & Central Texas.  This is a 30 bedroom facility that provides lodging and support services to families with critically ill or injured children in Austin and the 46 surrounding counties.  They greatly depend on the kindness and generosity of the community to keep them operating.

In lieu of a gift for your child’s teacher, please consider donating items from the Ronald McDonald House wish list.  We sent this list home in Thursday folders last week.  This is completely optional, but we wanted to provide you with this opportunity.  These items can be brought to your child’s teacher, and the 3rd grade team will ensure the delivery of these donations to the Ronald McDonald House.  Your generosity will be greatly appreciated by many, and your kindness will let families at the house know they are being thought of during this holiday season.  Please send any items to school by Friday, December 18th.

This could only happen in Texas!!  As a precautionary measure due to weather, we will reschedule Girl's Night Out for Friday, January 15th.  If you know of a conflict with this date, please let us know by December 18th, so that we can send your refund home and open that spot for another lucky girl.
