In The Grapes of Wrath, the Joad family, like many families during that time, were forced to pack up and leave home.  First, they abandoned belongings to move in with Uncle John.  Then, it was - we have to be able to fit it all in our converted truck, along with Grandma, Grampa, and the dog.  Yikes!

If you had to leave home, what belongings would be "a must pack"?  Why?  What would you miss the most about home?  How would you feel about being uprooted?  What would it be like traveling with your whole family in one vehicle for days upon days?

    Part One:
Please take a moment to introduce yourself to me and to the class. Share what you feel we need to know to work well together as teacher and student and as a community of learners.

    Part Two:
Whenever we begin something new, we come with expectations.  Some are based on what we have heard from others, some are from what we have observed or experienced, and some preconceptions are based on fears or needs.  Regardless, in order to make this a more productive school year for all of us, I would like to know what your expectations are of this course and of me.  Explain your response.

This is due before class on FRIDAY, September 7th.  It must be posted by then or brought with you in the form of a paper copy when you enter class .

Thank you in advance for your work.
