Join a group!
Find an organization related to your topic that ALREADY EXISTS
Contact them. Figure out what they are doing to make a difference in their communities. Borrow an idea they have and plug it in to Lakewood/Tacoma.
Go to a meeting in the area--take notes, talk to members, find out how they are working in their communties.
Create a branch of that organization in Lakewood--get other CPHS students to become involved.
Educate!
**Put a brochure together that educates a target audience about your topic
**Write 3 mini lessons that address aspects of your topic and end with a product/project you audience can create (such as a poster, skit, etc)
**Create a community blog where folks can write, comment, and engage in critical conversations about your topic.
**Set up international/cross-state pen-pal program
Figure out what forum you would use (email, letters, other??)
Find a class, group of students, etc who want to connect on your topic
Begin exchanging ideas!
**Research legislation being proposed in Olympia and Contact a legislator!
Talk to Coker/Teague how to do this
Take picturesof yourself in action!
Create a finished productyour audience will produce (a poster, pamphlet, survey).
**Collect this product, take pictures of it, or compile survey answers
Film!
Take video footage of yourself in action! Film classmates, colleagues, etc being involved in your project.
Organize an Event
**An Exhibition that shows various aspects of your project. Ex. A sustainable fashion exhibit where students present projects related to ways to recycle and reuse materials in a stylish way.
**Raise Money Walk-a-thon/Run-a-thon
Use ideas from MADD, H20, etc to organize an event that ALL CPHS students can participate in. Create flyers, a fund-raiser component, and get others involved!
