    A Day, 5/15

    I took our new ASB Exec Board to a servant leadership conference yesterday so here’s a recap of what they did with the sub:

    Spanish 2: worked on their metro project with the laptop cart. Presentations and posters due Monday May 20th

    Spanish 3: worked on their film, due June 7th. Will be counted as their oral final

    8th grade: reviewed jugar and gustar, created a luche libre fighter persona and homework is preterit packet


    B Day, 5/16 (today)

    7th grade:

    Students created flashcards for tener expressions, quizzed each other and played “Harrison Squares” based on Hollywood Squares as a review game. Quiz Tuesday


    8th grade:

    Students were introduced to preterit tense (one of the past tenses of Spanish) They did some in class worksheets and started a reading comprehension.

    Tarea if not done in class.

    Period 2 and 3, Spanish 2/3

    Spanish 2 students worked on the attached project (see email) on the laptop cart. Due Monday May 20th

    Spanish 3 students worked on their film project due June 7th. It will take the place of their oral exam.

    Period 4, 8th grade

    Students reviewed their sports vocabulary and learned about luchelibre wrestling through a group reading activity.

    Spanish 2/3:

    Students experienced the Madrid Metro System a la HP! I mapped out four lines of the subway and posted them around the school along with landmarks at each station. They had three landmarks they had to find and how to figure out how to “ride the rails” to get there.

    No tarea, except Spanish 3 students should be prepared to film next week.

    8th grade worked on converting USD to euros and reading recipes in preparation for their quiz Thursday.

    7th grade, period 6 and 7

    Students review tener and tener que and learned new tener expressions that are important to Spanish. Attached in the email is a copy of their homework, due Wednesday.


    8th grade, period 8

    Students did a recipe activity, using their own knowledge and studying a Spanish recipe. Food quiz on Wednesday.

    7th grade, period 6

    Due to MSP testing, I didn’t see this class!

    7th grade, period 7

    As students trickled in, they watched Dinosaur Time inSpanish and completed a worksheet (until the Internet stopped working…)


    8th grade, period 8

    Students learned about different fruits and dishes availablein Spain, Ecuador and Costa Rica. They got to try Mexican “duros” and tamarindsand maracuya juice from Costa Rica.

    Spanish 2/3

    Students were introduced to the future tense. They wrotedown topics of the future (summer vacation, graduation, etc) and we spoke aboutthem for one minute.

     

    Tarea:pages 160-162, very top of 163 in their future tense packet

    8th grade

    Students took a recipe that they knew (scrambled eggs, BLTsandwich…) and created a step-by-step instruction sheet in Spanish, withpictures!

     

    Tarea: SOME students have the instruction sheet to finish.

    7th grade, period 6

    I didn’t see this class due to MSP Writing exam! I expectnot to see them on Thursday either.



    7th grade, period 7

    I saw some of this class but not all due to the MSP WritingExam. We did a worksheet, not a big deal if they weren’t here.


    8th grade. period 8

    Students watched their (last?) episode of Made in Spain, learningabout the peppers in the north and Roncal cheese. They had a partner activityinvolving budgeting meals, using a Mexican menu and converting dollars topesos. The math teachers love me.

     

    On Thursday, I plan on a slideshow of foods and meals frommy travels to Spain, Mexico, Ecuador and Costa Rica. I plan on sharing withthem some tamarinds and a powdered fruit drink mix from Costa Rica. The fruitis called “maracuya” or “calala.” If your students has any citrus allergies orsensitivities or you’d just rather have them not try anything, please let meknow ASAP.

    Spanish 2/3

    We reviewed their vocabulary as a class then students listened to an instructional video on how to connect in the Barajas airport in Madrid. (They totally have instructional videos, it’s a seriously complicated airport) Then they partnered for an activity using the bus map from Pamplona,Spain.

     

    Tarea: none


    8th grade, A Day
