Molly, Rachel, and I went to Paris, Rome, Venice, London, and Ireland this month.  We have returned and are back to our regular schedule.  School is starting soon, so we're getting prepared.  Molly can almost walk.  She is excited to hear the Band students play music this year.  This time, she'll most likely dance instead of fall asleep.

I am so proud of the Woodbrook Band.  They keep stepping their game up year after year.  We had an awesome show today at Clover Park High School.  It was great.  Tomorrow, we will be performing for the entire school at 2:20.  We are going to do an awesome job!

Tomorrow is the first day we will be administering the WASL.  All of the electives will be in the afternoon, except for next Monday.  6th graders come to band from 12:00-12:57, 7th graders from 1:00-1:57, and 8th graders from 2:00 until 3:05.  I hope that our students do a great job and show what they got on this statewide assessment.

This quarter is off to a great start.  I'm excited about the new music that the groups chose for the quarter.  We have a concert at Evergreen Elementary on May 1st and it's coming up soon.  I enjoy playing Evergreen.  They have such a great facility for concerts.

The 8th Grade Band played Tillicum Elementary last Friday, March 6th, at 9am.  Even though I got stuck in traffic on the way to school and the bus was a few minutes late, the 8th graders stepped their game up and loaded the bus up quickly.  We were able to set up before the students were all there.  The audience was excellent.  Last year, the 8th grade Band played for the K-2 students in the cafeteria and there were no teachers there.  Some of the students were breakdancing during the set.  This year, there was no break dancing.
We are getting ready for the Band Festival on March 20th.  I am excited that we will have fun and sound great at the festival.  The quarter is almost over.  At least we have the 4th quarter, where we will have multiple concerts and our field trip to EMP on June 1st.

I just got done getting all of the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Band folders graded.  Students did a great job on answering questions and completing their worksheets.  Progress reports will be coming home on Monday.  I collected data from th 7th and 8th graders on which songs they want to play for the judges at the Band Festival at Lochburn on March 20th.  It looks like the 8th graders want to play Furioso and the 7th graders picked Baby Boy.

I'm looking forward to our concert at Tillicum next Friday.  I think that we will play our best concert there to date.
