When do you update the homework pages?
I try to update the site before I leave school. If that is not
possible, the
homework pages will be updated no later than 7pm, UNLESS the
server is down.
In this case, I recommend calling a friend!
How can I find out my grades?
Grades are posted daily on Infinite Campus. All you need is your
password. If you need help with either your password or
navigating through Infinite Campus, please see the front office
for help. If you still can't figure out your grade, for any
reason, please ask me at the end of class, and I will help you
out.
Do you always respond to your email?
Unfortunately, no. I wish I could, but I get so many messages on
some days
it is nearly impossible. If you have a question on the homework,
you are
probably better off calling a friend or saving it for class
tomorrow.
When is my homework due?
In Algebra 1, you will have homework every class meeting,
Monday, Wednesday,
Friday, or
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Homework is always
due the next class period. I will look it over and check for
completion
ONLY. You will have the opportunity at the beginning of any
class period to
ask as many homework questions as you wish, which I strongly
recommend,
since your quizzes and tests are based on this work.
There is NO HOMEWORK in Algebra Support!
How do you figure out my report card grade in Algebra 1? How about Algebra Support?
In Algebra 1, your grade is based on two factors; tests and
quizzes and weekly
homework.
Quarterly grades are based 80% on tests and quizzes and 20% on
homework.
In Algebra Support, your grade is based on classwork and daily
quizzes, along with the completion of your Algebra 1 homework.
To be specific, 50% of your grade is classwork and
participation, 30% of your grade is daily quizzes, and 20% is
having your Algebra 1 homework completed.
Why do I need to use pencil in math?
Because I said so. If you use pen...I don't give credit!
May I use a calculator on my homework? Do I need to buy one?
Calculators will be allowed on certain assignments and even
tests. I will
let you know when this is the case. In terms of buying
calculators, I have a
class set of graphing calculators for your use. Should you wish
to purchase
your own, please see me for recommendations.
What if I am absent and I miss a test or having my homework checked off?
Keep in mind that I have well over 150 students, and therefore,
it is YOUR
responsibility to let me know that you were absent the class
before. Your
homework due the day you were absent will be due the day you
come back. If
you've missed a test or quiz, we'll find a time that is mutally
convenient
to make it up. Please note that you may have a different, often
more
difficult test or quiz, to take upon your return. This ought
inspire you to be in school every day and to help dissuade
cheating.
Do you accept late work?
If you are absent, as mentioned above, I will accept late work
the class
period that you return. Otherwise, NO, I do not accept late work.
What if I don't show my work?
Simple. No work, no credit, and this is true for EVERYTHING in
this class!
Even if you can do it in your head, humor me.
