Dear Parents,We need your help at home. There are still a number of students that do not know their multiplication and division facts. These need to be memorized. Right now we are working on fractions, but we will be jumping into larger multiplication and division problems soon. If your child must use fingers or repeated addition to find the answers, they need to study more. We no longer have time to repeatedly test in class so the children that need a daily test will be taking them during recess. All students have had 3 months to learn these facts.Also, we have begun using Study Island and all children have weekly assignments. You can check your child's progress in the my class section of their account. You will be able to see if the assignments were completed on time and the accuracy rate. To make time for this, some students that are working at a higher level in Kidbiz are now going to be completing 3 or 4 Kidbiz assignments a week. Each child knows how many they need to do.Students still need to be reading each day. Students reading at grade level should be trying to get at least 2 points each week. If your child is reading below grade level, they need to be doing even more. Many of their books can be completed in 15 or 20 minutes. We would like to have all children at grade level or above by the end of the year in reading. Reading only improves when a child reads.
