Because the abilities of students vary so much by the time children enter third grade, various groups of students will have different assignments. The only way to get accurate assignments is to check your child's assignment sheet each day. The assignments are written on the board and it is your child's responsibility to copy the assignments neatly and completely. Please check your child's work each evening against the assignments on the assignment sheet and then sign the sheet each day once the assignments are complete. There is really only one assignment common to all children and it is: All children are required to read a minimum of 20 pages each day -- 7 days a week. Children must write the title of the book and the pages read on the assignment sheet daily until they reach 50 points. After that, all they need to do is read. Children may always read more, and if they are still in first or second grade books they should definitely be reading more. Please visit the AR page on this website and see how many points your child should have at any given time.
