For Parents

The library subscribes to three online databases. These resources include
Grolier's Encyclopedias (4 complete sets) including the Encyclopedia of
Popular Science and a Spainish language Encyclopedia. Ebsco periodical and
literary resources databases, and SIRS a periodical database providing
access to current and controversial issues. The library budget includes
remote access which allows all ALHS students to locate suitable materials
for projects, homework and research at home, before and after school. In
order to link to these services, go to the altalomahigh.com website, link to
the library page, scroll down to online resources. Ask the librarian for
login and password information.

You will also find several suggested free
internet sites, reviewed by the library/media teacher and others which
provide useful information for most subjects. 28 computers are available
for student and staff research, and the catalog/circulation and textbook
systems are completely automated.

In addition to internet and online subscriptions,The library houses
approximately 18,000 books, many have been purchased in the last seven
years. We also subscribe to 20 periodicals including three newspapers. All
buildings on campus as well as the library provide cable access and the
library has distance learning capabilities. The library media teacher and
other teachers collaborate regularly on resource, research based units of
instruction.
