Homework
August/September
Homework is sent home on Friday of each week. It is returned on the
following Thursday in the satchel. Each night your child should
complete a portion of the work. It is designed to support learned
material and help students manage their time.
The math fact practice should not take longer than 2 minutes. If it is, try practicing the facts orally when driving your student places. also, try playing one lower or one higher with your student. These are great ways to build skills in a non stressful way.
The reading practice should be out loud. Any words your child struggles with should be finger spelled, or sounded out. Each new concept is reinforced with the stories to read. Also, the spelling packet requires sound symbol practice. Remind your student that the goal is to practice to weekly skill. This in turn will increase your child's reading and writing fluency.
All homework should be work your child can complete without assistance. It is review and practice of skills and concepts we've introduced and practiced in class.
If you notice your child struggling with any part of the homework, please let me know via email. You can also drop by or call the office.
