When is homework due? Generally, we will have math Monday-Thursday, spelling packet due
Friday, and reading/reading log for
Book Club due Friday. On occasion there will be extra homework
assigned throughout the week. It is
the student's responsibility to keep track of due dates.
What is Discovery Quest and when is it due? Discovery Quest is the opportunity for your child to develop good
public speaking skills. Once a month,
on an assigned Thursday, your child will give a 2-5 minute speech on a topic
of their choice. Student's are
responsible for keeping track of their assigned speech day.
How does Book Club work? Your child is assigned to a certain day of the week to meet with the teacher and their Book Club group.
On that day they will need to make sure they are prepared. This means they will need one of three
things to be ready to share with their group: 1) an update, 2) a report, or 3) a project. This enables the
Book Club to run smoothly, and everyone has the chance to share something about the book they are
reading. If your child is not prepared, they will receive one warning to be ready the next time. If it
is a recurring problem, they will not be allowed to join Book Club that day. On the other days that
they don't have Book Club, they will be working independently; either reading, filling out an update,
writing a report, or working on a project.
