Weeks of October 6 and 13
Hello Parents of Kitah Dalet,
Last week we continued our Sukkot programming with a visit to the synagogue
sukkah where the mizrach we made were displayed and Rabbi Bloom taught us about
the 4 species. We also had a Sukkot Jeopardy game, won by the blue team who
were miraculously all boys (chosen at random). Our kite flying trip included
learning about Janusz Korczak, the children’s rights advocate, who said, “The
child has the right to make mistakes. There are no more fools among children
than among adults.”
We’re also practicing our Hebrew script writing and learning about the Sh’ma and
V’ahavta. Finally, in honor of Shabbat Bereshit, I told the students how
exactly God created the world, from one of my favorite books of midrash for all
ages, Julius Lester’s When the Beginning Began. Check it out.
Kol tuv,
Rabbi Ken
