Thank you so very much to the families attended conferences. I enjoyed
talking with all of you and hope to continue our communication throughout the
year. Thank you for your support!
ATTENDANCE IS VERY IMPORTANT!
SCHOOL BEGINS AT 8:00 SHARP! 2ND GRADE STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED AT 2:15
MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY AND AT 12:30 EACH FRIDAY. ON TEACHER LEARNING DAYS
(TLD), WHICH ARE ALWAYS HELD ON TUESDAYS, STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED AT 12:30
AS WELL. (PLEASE SEE CALENDAR PAGES FOR TLDS) PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CHILD
ARRIVES NO EARLIER THAN 7:45 EACH DAY. (THERE ISN'T ANYONE TO MONITOR YOUR
CHILD BEFORE THAT AND WE DON'T CONSIDER IT SAFE UNTIL THERE IS SOMEONE ON
DUTY.) ARRIVING AT 7:45 WILL GIVE STUDENTS THAT NEED TO EAT BREAKFAST AT
SCHOOL TIME TO EAT, GO TO THE RESTROOM, DRINK SOME WATER, AND CHAT WITH
FRIENDS BEFORE SCHOOL BEGINS. EACH CHILD NEEDS TO BE IN LINE READY TO LISTEN
AND LEARN NO LATER THAN 8:00.
Each Wednesday students will bring their Bobcat Folders home. It is very
important that the papers in the Bobcat folder are read by parents or
guardians. The Bobcat Folder, must be signed on the back and returned by
Thursday, along with other papers that may require signatures. If your
child looses the Bobcat Folder, another one must be obtained in the office
for $0.50. Thank you for attention in this matter.
THE CALENDAR PAGES ARE SET WITH THE HOLIDAYS FOR AUGUST 27,2009 THROUGH JUNE
17, 2010. PLEASE SCHEDULE YOUR CHILD'S APPOINTMENTS, VACATIONS, AND OTHER
REASONS TO BE AWAY AROUND THE CALENDAR SO YOUR CHILD WON'T MISS ANY SCHOOL.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THEIR WON'T BE A TEACHER LEARNING DAY IN NOVEMBER OR JUNE.
THE NEXT TEACHER LEARNING DAY IS TUESDAY, 12/8/09. YOUR CHILD WILL BE
DISMISSED ON THAT DAY AT 12:30. THANK YOU.
If your phone number or address has changed, please notify the office and
me. We need up-to-date information in order to communicate with you at all
times especially during an emergency. You can send a brief note with your
child, or call the school, to keep us informed. Thank you.
PLEASE, HELP YOUR CHILD MEMORIZE THEIR MATH FACTS. WE WILL BE WORKING TO
MEMORIZE ADDITION FACTS, SUBTRACTION FACTS, AND MULTIPICATION FACTS. CHILDREN
THAT DON'T KNOW ADDITION, SUBTRACTION, AND MULTIPLICATION FACTS BY HEART WILL
BE AT A DISADVANTAGE. DRILLING WITH FACT CARDS OR GOING ON
Bishop.mathscore.com ARE THE BEST WAYS TO PRACTICE. I have sent home
their passwords already. IF YOU DON'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS, PLEASE VISIT THE
SUNNYVALE PUBLIC LIBRARY, A FRIEND, OR RELATIVE THAT DOES HAVE ACCESS.TIME
SPENT NOW WILL MAKE YOUR CHILD'S LIFE EASIER LATER. THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS.
Please encourage your second grader to read, read, read 20 or more
minutes at least 5 days each week. Students can read with you or
independently if they are able. If you work dinner preparation time is a
wonderful time to hear your child read out loud. Bedtime is a wonderful time
to share a book with your child. Please take your child to the Sunnyvale
Public Library. You can access Accelerated Reader on the internet to see a
list of books at your child's level by going to
http://hosted7.renlearn.com/279203/. Each child has their own user name and
password. Each child should have their own Sunnyvale Public Library card. I
have taken the library card applications that I recieved to the library, and
I have passed the card to your child. If your child hasn't given their card
to you, please ask them for it. Parents, this is an important card and should
be kept by you.
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT WITH BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION. PLEASE BEGIN TO COLLECT THEM
NOW AND SENT THEM IN AS YOU CUT THEM OUT. WHEN YOU GO SHOPPING, PLEASE
REMEMBER TO LOOK FOR PRODUCTS WITH BOXTOPS. PLEASE TAKE YOUR CHILD TO
NEIGHBORS' HOUSES THAT DON'T HAVE CHILDREN ATTENDING BISHOP SCHOOL TO ASK
THEM TO COLLECT BOXTOPS FOR US. DON'T FORGET TO HAVE YOU CHILD CALL RELATIVES
AND FRIENDS FOR THEM TOO. IT IS AN EASY FUND RAISER AS WE GET $0.10 FOR EVERY
BOX TOP. IF YOU HAVE BEEN COLLECTING, PLEASE SEND THEM IN, SO WE CAN GET
CREDIT FOR THEM. THANK YOU, AGAIN, FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
I could really use some help. If you can help, please contact me right away.
If you have any free time, I would certainly appreciate your efforts. Thank
you in advance.
*11/24 - We made 2 projects in class and I really appreciate Aliyah's
and Jonathan's mom's coming in to help out. A special thank you to both of
them. Also I appreciate the families that donated items to help with the
projects. You are the best!
*In December we will be making a couple of projects that I will need parents'
help on too. I will be more specific with the time and dates as soon as I can.
*If you have some extra time and would like to come in and listen to a
struggling reader read or help out with getting students on the computers for
AR testing, I will happily train you.
*If you can't help us with your time in the classroom, maybe you could
help us by taking some correcting home. I would be glad to teach you how to
do it, and I will provide you with answer keys.
*If you can't get involved with any of the above, maybe you can help us
with sending a box of tissues. We had a couple of families donate a box each,
but we could really use more because we go through a lot of them; therefore,
we still need more. Thank you to those families. Maybe you could send
in a bottle of hand sanitizer. We go through that fast too. We had two
families donate a bottle or two. Thank you very much, too.
*Remember that students with parents involved in their classrooms tend
to better in school. I really hope that you will talk to me about a way that
you can be involved. Thank you again.
