Sept. 7, 2010
Dear C3 families,
We had a wonderful first full week. We are in full swing. I am still looking
for items that you may have to donate from that Project list...remember it
doesn't have to be new items, it can be things you have around the house.
Thank you to those of you who have already contributed.
Curriculum
We are writing summaries of narratives this week to review this skill. We
will also begin the novel Because of Winn Dixie and we will be doing some
interesting activities with it. In math we are finishing up our first chapter
on Geometry concepts. Students will have their first math test either on
Friday this week or next Monday.
We begin our vocabulary program this week. Look for a list in your child's
homework folder that has a list of the words and definitions. Please keep
this list for two weeks, I will not be sending a new one home next week.
Students will be tested in Spelling on the first Friday and on the vocabulary
words on the second Friday. Students will mostly likely need support with
learning these definitions. The homework the second week will be based on the
vocabulary and it is somewhat challenging. Please let me know if your child
is really struggling. This voabualry program will take some adjusting to.
Items to Remember
- Band begins Sept. 27th. Practices are on Mondays during school (1:30-2:15)
and Fridays after school (2:30- 3:15).
- PE with our PE consultant Matthew Burchmore is on Wednesdays right after
lunch (12:30-1:00)
Mark your calendars
- Sept 6 - No School - Labor Day
- Sept. 10 - School Photos
