Dear C-2 Parents, May 10, 2012
I first want to thank the many of you who have sent in the nice teacher
appreciation week gifts. They are a nice pick me up for the stretch run. I
don't take your appreciation for granted, and I am so excited to work towards
a fantastic finish to the school year.
So, with 26 days left of school you may think that we are winding down. It's
really the opposite. Here is what's on tap:
Language Arts: Read By The Great Horn Spoon
Math: Complete Chapter 12: Rates and Ratios
Science: Rocks and Minerals
Social Studies: Gold Rush
Projects: Adopt a Rock and RUFUS Video Game Cover
Everyday is FULL. The kids attendance is key to keeping them caught up and in
the loop for all of our many activities. We're having fun, but it's lots of
work.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
This info will hopefully help you manage the last 5 weeks of school
May 31-Last day of homework in 4th grade (There has been no RUFUS this week,
but we will be doing the final RUFUS project over the next 3 weeks.)
June 14-Gold Rush Day Celebration for 4th grade. Many activities that require
parent help are planned. Nathalie Habash is heading this up on the parent end
for us. Please contact her if you are interested in being a part of this day.
June 15-On the last day of school, I traditionally like to have the parents
join us in the classroom for the first 30 to 45 minutes for a light breakfast
treat and to share with us the "World Premiere" of our year in review
slideshow that I put together. Copies will go home with each student. It is
my labor of love as I usually have watery eyes the whole time I am putting it
together. Please make plans to join us at the start of the day. After that I
do ask parents to leave. I like to have the final moments with my class
exclusively just the 34 of us. I read Oh the Places You'll Go and thank them
for being so awesome! We are tentatively planned to attend the 10AM 8th grade
promotion with the entire school. If that plan holds it will make that final
morning fast and furious!
Well, there you have it! Lots going on, maybe more than ever! Thanks for your
continued support!
