How do I check my student's grades?

Click on the "Grades" link, then enter your student's personal identification
number. If your student has recently transferred from one period into
another, please e.mail Ms. Holt your child's ID number at
ellenandersonholt@yahoo.com, so that she can enter your child's ID number into
the new class period's spreadsheet.

What if my student says that his or her grade is incorrect?

Grades are updated weekly. If you locate a graded assignment that you turned
in on time, but it was not recorded, simply print your grade report, write
your name on it, staple the item to the back of your grade report, and circle
the number of the item. That way, Ms. Holt can correct it in an orderly way.
Verbal requests for grade changes will not be processed.

My student says that he or she does not have homework. Is this true?

No! At the very least, students can do their recommended 30 minutes per
night of "free reading." It is extremely important for all seventh graders to
read for a minimum of 30 minutes per night, but we almost ALWAYS have homework
in this class!

Can I turn in late assignments?

Unfortunately, Ms. Holt does not accept late daily homework assignments.
You must do your best on every assignment when it is assigned; rushing
through last-minute extra-credit will not help you achieve mastery of the
seventh grade standards! She will, however, accept rewrites of major writing
assignments that receive a grade of "C" or lower, as long as they are turned
in before grades are finalized each quarter.

But what if I was sick and my absence is excused?

Fine, as long as you submit a pink pass to Ms. Holt AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO
PICK UP YOUR MISSED WORK DURING LUNCH...it is due THE NEXT DAY. This system
rewards the integrity of those students who do their best to make it to school
every day and discourages unnecessary absences.

Can I do extra credit?

Yes. You may earn extra credit AR points. However, Ms. Holt only multiplies
your first 10 points by 10. The rest are dumped into extra credit as single
points. That means that, if you have 10 points due (100 grade points), you
can turn in 25 for 105 extra credit points per AR due date. This has changed,
to discourage students from abusing the AR system, which is meant as a support
piece, not as a replacement piece, for the required work.
