WHAT: C.M.E.A. (Calif. Music Educators Association) Orchestra Festival

Welcome to the CMEA Orchestra Festival. I am looking forward to this fun and educational event and hope that you are, too. We have a challenge - to play our best concert of the year. I cannot stress enough the importance of everyone’s participation in this festival. This performance is OUR Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup, Tour de France, etc. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity for our CV orchestras to perform and compete with such a large group of talented and diversified orchestras from all over the Bay Area.
I encourage your parents, relatives, and friends to be in attendance when weperform on Saturday, APRIL 28th, 2012. The festival is free and open to the public.
I will need parents to chaperone, for we have over 100 students combined in the orchestras, and I will need help at the festival. If you are willing and available to help, please call me at (510) 537-5910 ext. 3611, or my cell phone (510) 329-5681 and leave your name & daytime phone number.
The total time commitment for each student will be approximately FIVE hours. This time frame allows for each musician to hear and evaluate at least four other groups, in addition to their own group warm up, performance, clinic and to take photo. Think of it in terms of an all day swim meet, wrestling or basketball tournament, etc., AND IT IS JUST AS IMPORTANT THAT EVERY MEMBER IS THERE TO PERFORM OUR BEST.
Although snacks and drinks will be available for sale from the SRVHS Music Boosters, IT IS BEST FOR YOU TO EAT A WELL BALANCED MEAL BEFORE YOU ARRIVE AT THE FESTIVAL SITE. NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDINGS.

· ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!!! This is part of your final GRADE.
As per course outline: “Student’s grade will be lowered two letter grades for missing a mandatory performance”.
· 12:30 PM: MEET AND LOAD BUSSES AT CANYON M.S. w/ music, instrument etc.
· ARRIVE AT SRVHS @ 1:00 PM.
· Watch & Judge four other ensembles;
· CVHS You must complete 4 adjudication sheets for Passport IV credit.

· Clinic with Judges= CVHS @ 3:35, CMS @ 4:50 PM
· Take group photos @ 5:00 p.m.
· Check in w/Ms. Dahms; LOAD BUSES.
· Depart San Ramon Valley High School @ 5:30 p.m.
· 6:00 PM= Arrive CANYON MIDDLE SCHOOL parking lot
PARENTS: PLEASE BE AT CANYON M.S. PARKING LOT BEFORE 6:00 PM, SO YOU ARE READY AND WAITING TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD. IF I HAVE TO WAIT FOR A STUDENT TO BE PICKED UP, THEY MAY BE REMOVED FROM FUTURE END OF THE YEAR ACTIVITIES (DANCES, SCHOOL TRIPS, YEARBOOK PARTY ETC.)
