DISCIPLINE POLICY

My discipline program has 5 components. It is designed to reach the child on
an individual, group and whole class basis. It also encompasses methods for
parent/school communication and positive rewards for good behavior and on
task time. They are as follows:

l. RAZZLE DAZZLE TICKETS - school-wide positive behavior tickets.
Each child will receive a razzle dazzle at the end of each day if
their behavior clip is on green. They are accumulated in a Winnie the Pooh
bucket until Friday, when they are delivered by our messenger to the office
before lunch. Each Friday afternoon the office draws names of children for
prizes they supply and names are announced over the loud speaker. So, the
more tickets they earn, the better chance they have to hear their name
called.

2. RAFFLE TICKETS - in class tickets are given for quiet, on task work and
good behavior. These tickets are collected to be later used for class
drawings.

3. STAR TABLE - The "Star table" is awarded to the highest point table at
the end of each day. This gives the winning table the opportunity to line up
first when leaving the room. Points are given out to tables that are ready
first when changing from one activity to another, following directions, or
when preparing to exit the room.

4. MARBLE JAR - when the freeze bell is rung, students freeze in silence
with their hands on their head and eyes on me, listening attentively. When
the freeze is immediate by the whole class, 1 or more marbles are added to
the jar. When the jar is full, the class has earned a special activity or
reward. Positive individual acts of listening, good behavior and good
classwork can earn marbles for the class.

5. BEHAVIOR CLIP CHART - Every child starts out with their wooden clip on
Green each morning. The goal is to remain on Green for the ENTIRE day and
earn a razzle dazzle for good behavior.

If a reminder is necessary, a child's clip will be moved down to Yellow.
From Yellow, a child's clip can be moved back to Green (for listening and
showing good behavior), OR moved down to BLUE, for continuous poor behavior.
If it moves to Blue, the child goes to the Thinking desk (or time-out desk)
and signs their name in the "blue book" as well as on a blue ticket. I'll
fill out the rest of the blue ticket and it's sent home for a parent
signature. It should be returned the following day. A sand hourglass timer
is turned over and watched as they think about why they are there and
what they need to do to improve their behavior. When it runs out, they may
return to their desk. If the child continues with poor behavior that day,
their clip will be moved to WHITE and a white school behavior ticket will be
filled out and also be sent home for a parent signature. A phone call
will be made home along with recess detention the following day.

NOTE: A child's clip will be moved from Yellow back to Green if their
behavior improves, but once a clip is moved to Blue it cannot go back to
green, only forward to White, if poor behavior continues.

IMPORTANT!

Parents,

I find that once a child is sitting at the "THINKING DESK," they get the
message that they got in trouble and straighten up. They don't like the
negative attention and feel embarrassed for mis-behaving. The thought of
taking the slip home for their parent to sign is really punishment enough
for most children. So, if your child comes home with a blue or white ticket,
PLEASE MAKE A BIG DEAL ABOUT IT!

THANK YOU for your support on this!
