FIRST SEMESTER SHARING INFORMATION:

First Grade will begin sharing the first week of October and will continue until the end of November. The purpose of sharing is to increase your childs oral language skills, as well as develop a positive self-image. As a parent, your enthusiasm and involvement in the preparation of the item or topic to share will help your child gain confidence and lead to greater success in oral language skills.

As shown below, your childs weekly sharing will be either an assigned theme or free choice. Some ideas we suggest during the free choice week are: nature items, art projects done at home, photographs, stories your child has dictated or written, or a favorite book or tape. Sharing need not always involve an object. Your child may want to tell the class about an experience, special incident or trip. Most pets may be brought to share, but need the teachers permission first so that we can set up an appropriate time. Sharing is limited to one item or subject to tell about.
