About The Teacher

I received my teaching degree from Westfield State College in Massachusetts.
Westfield State had an excellent accredited teaching program, and it was
there that I met my husband. From college, I taught in my hometown,
Burlington, Massachusetts. Later he took a job that required us to relocate
to Southern California. It was suppose to only be for a few years, but once
we got a taste of San Diego, how could we leave? I love living and working
in the City of Carlsbad. We have 3 sons that keep us very busy with their
many school, church and Boy Scout activities.

I am in my 12th year of teaching full-time and truly enjoy teaching and
molding first graders to the foundations to school - phonics, reading skills,
math concepts and writing.

At Hope School, we encourage, teach and recognize good character traits we
want our future leaders to emulate. They are citizenship, responsibility,
cooperation, caring, respect, fairness/justice, trustworthiness/integrity,
perseverance and ambition.

Hope Elementary is an excellent neighborhood school and I am very proud to
be a part of such a dedicated group of staff members. Our first grade team
collaborates well together and we feel that we give all of our first graders
a balanced and enriched experience.

Our state and district standards are high. Take a look at our school's test
scores! The state of California gave Hope Elementary a 10/10 score and we
are a 2008 California Distinguished School!

Mission For The Class

I will provide a positive and safe learning environment for my students. I
will praise, encourage, nurture and enrich each child, as I give many
opportunities for success and active participation. Each child is unique
with different needs. One teaching technique may not work for another. I
will use different modalities of teaching strategies to help each child to
learn and be successful. I make a point to develop and maintain a close
partnership with my student’s parents. To truly bring out a child’s
potential, both school and home have to work as a team. Each of us has a job
to do, so we need to be on the “same page.” I will keep careful assessments
on each student’s progress and will notify parents when I have a concern. My
classroom website is updated several times a week. It is linked to the
school’s website. I explain board work with samples for easy reference and
use district, teacher-made and outside materials to enhance and enrich
learning in my classroom. I have high expectations for my students and
challenge them to try their best, while giving many new and exciting
experiences.

Our class motto and pledge is:

OUR CLASS MOTTO
I am loveable, capable and a kind first grader.

OUR CLASS PLEDGE
I promise to always try my best,
Every single day.
Listening, learning and being fair,
When I work and play.
Keeping hands and feet to myself,
I'll treat others with respect.
I'll raise my hand to speak,
And keep my desk neat.
I'll listen when my teacher speaks,
And be kind and friendly to everyone.
I pledge to be a good citizen this year,
At Hope School and in Mrs. Brady's class.

In turn, I would like you to empty your child's backpack DAILY and review
all papers coming home. I often send home papers to be finished or
corrected. Often times I will stamp a paper for your signature. Please see
to it that they are done and returned correctly, as soon as possible.

Students should come to school with a positive attitude, ready to
learn. Students need to accept personal responsibility for their actions,
and follow classroom and school rules.

Above all, remember that YOU are your child's best teacher. They look to
you for guidance, direction and stability. Show your child that school is a
top priority in your home and that you always want them to "try their best"
in all they do with a positive and kind attitude.

Thank you for supporting my many programs and procedures, and...
