4/16. Have a great Spring Break! April 9 was the end of the 2nd grading
period. Grades are now posted.
No homework was assigned, but there is an extra credir opportunity, due 4/20
(first day after the break). It is posted - called AM in the PM.
After Spring Break we will spend the first couple of weeks learning about
maps, and California resources. After STAR testing we will finish the year
learning about air pollution and its chemistry.
4/1. Happy Spring! We're finishing the weather unit, and the unit test will
be next Thursday. No quiz this week. I'll hand out review materials next
class. There will be an extra credit opportunity over Spring Break.
3/2. Grades updated after inputting work I received today.
3/2. I posted grades for the first progress report on the class pages last
night. Several students gave me additional work today, so I will update those
grades later today.
We are finishing our unit on Earth's atmosphere, states of matter, gas
laws, and energy this week. Our unit test will be on 3/6.
1/8/09 Happy New Year to all. We are staring the second semester learning
about the water cycle and California water resources. We will also study
the oceans, and lear about water solutions (part of chemistry) and then
study the atmosphere and weather and learn about gases and energy (more
subjects in chemistry) before spring break. After spring break we will
concentrate on chemical substances and reactions.
12/15. All assignmetns that students have turned in have been graded and
posted tonight. See the grades pages for each class. After the final exam
I'll post the exam grade and the semester grade both here on the website and
in the window of the classroom by early neaxt week (maybe sooner).
12/12. The end of the term is approaching.
The final will be worth 15% of your semester grade. The exam will be 100
multiple choice questions and a separate page of short answer and math
problems. I'll provide periodic table and any equations that are needed.
Please remember to bring your calculator - you won't be able to use your
phone during the exam.
There will be reveiw sessions 3-4 on 12/12 and 12/16. I'll put all review
materials used in class and at the review sessions on the website in the
Documents section.

10/22 We've just finished our unit on plate tectonics, earthquakes and
volcanoes. We wrote a brochure about a region in California - general
information and information about natural hazards like earthqauakes and
volcanoes. Our unit test was last Thursday. Grades were posted tonight for
the unit.
We'll be learning about astronomy - our solar system, stars, galaxies and
the universe - for the rest of the semester.
9/26. Students were given grades as of today in class. I collected
additional work from them today, so 1st grading period grades may change.
I'll post them as soon as I submit them, which will be by Monday evening.
9/22/08 Plate Puzzle, Tectonics packet, Volcano packet, the magnet lab and
the three California region maps are due by Friday. To work on maps at
home, go to the documents section to get the maps. Quiz on Friday.

8/20/08. Welcome to Ms. Shinkle's Physical Science class at Casa Grande High
School. We will learn about the formation and structure of the Earth and
about Astronomy this semester.
No student can participate in laboratory activity without a safety contract
signed by both student and parent.
