THE TEDDE TIMES
Week of November 9 - 13, 2009
Greetings, Friends!!
Well, here I am on Thursday evening telling TEDDE tales again. It has
been a very strange week being off on Wednesday for Veteran’s Day. Doesn’t it
seem amazing that we will soon have a whole week off for Thanksgiving? And by
the way, we will have our 50th day of school next Thursday on our feast day.
The children are doing a fabulous job and they are very comfortable with our
classroom and the expectations we have for them.
This week we worked on letter Nn and numbers 5 and 6. We made a journal
page and we made Native American vests and headbands at Early Bird/Later Gator
time. We studied about the different Native American housing, shelter,
clothing, transportation, arts and artifacts, and tools and weapons from the
eight main areas of our country. The kids are quite interested in how people
lived long ago and try to picture a life that was so different than ours.
They made pictographs on their paper bag vests and loved picking out real
feathers for their costume. Next week we will study about the pilgrims and
make hats and collars to match their clothing of the time.
We went to music and Ms. Wright let us see some Native American
instruments and we did some dancing activities. There were instruments made
from a real turtle shell and a deer leg/foot as a holder. The children were
enthralled to see them. We went to computer lab and worked on a website
called iknowthat.com. It is multi-leveled and the children had a good time
with the ABC section. Next week we will try the math part. We missed P.E.
with Coach this week because we were off, but we did get to the library and we
saw our buddies. I finished my story called The Three Sillies.
The kids have painted some fabulous turkeys with our parent helpers.
They are displayed in the front windows and are sure to produce a smile. A
few are finishing, but they should all be up by Monday. The children work
one-on-one with an adult and have to really use some good visual
discrimination and sequencing to complete their project. We are also working
on eye-hand coordination and using our fine-motor skills with those paint
brushes. Some children really want to rush through everything to get
finished. If you notice this in your child, try to work together on some
projects that take time and enjoy the process. Five year olds can really see
a huge difference in their work if they just take their time in cutting and
coloring. Some of them actually don’t know that they can do things now
because they could not accomplish them before, and are convinced that they
can’t. They get the cutest look of surprise on their face when I make them
try and they see that they can attempt and complete something that was so
difficult before.
Please read the attached page in regards to our Thanksgiving Feast day.
We will not have a schedule change, but it is really a big celebration.
Please send in the donation on Monday or Tuesday in an envelope or baggy with
your child’s name on it. Thanks for your timely reply.
ANNOUCEMENTS:
• If your child has had to get new clothing from the office, please return it
washed and ready to be utilized again.
• Monday is an all together day schedule ~ 8:20 – 12:45.
• Your child can purchase milk from the cafeteria for lunch. Just go to the
office and put money on an account. Every child in the whole school has a

• Thank you so very much for turning in the yellow folders on Friday. It is
so great to have them all finished and ready to go by Sunday night.
See you all Monday morning. My family will be going to the USC game on
Saturday. It is so exciting, and my son and husband really love football.
It’s just such a great fall activity and the atmosphere is terrific. We even
have field passes, so we get to go down on the field when the players are
warming up. I know ~ TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!!! Love ya lots and lots, Mrs. M.
