THE TEDDE TIMES
Week of December 7 - 11, 2009
Merry, Merry!!
First of all, I want to make certain that you know that the time of
next Friday’s performance is 8:30. It was changed and I don’t want you to get
confused. Please get your sweet angel to the classroom by 8:10 and then scoot
on over to the cafeteria to get a good seat. We will put on our little
costumes and be the first to perform. We are getting very excited about our
special gift for you, and we still have some practicing to do and a big “dress
rehearsal” next week with the Kinder Kids. For the show it would be great if
your child could wear a red, green, or white shirt/top, or dress. If you do
not have this available, please, please do not feel that you need to go out
and purchase something. If your child wears a special holiday outfit you may
want to send some different clothes to change into for the rest of the day.
Also, please be advised that we will have no parent volunteers next Monday
through Thursday. We will be working on some projects that we want to keep
secret. During the holiday vacation you may want to get your TB test taken
care of so that you can join us on field trips or an occasional workday in the
classroom.
On that Friday we will have a regular day so don’t forget to send snack
and lunch. The children will decorate cookies and have a little party after
lunch. We have everything taken care of, so no monetary donation is needed.
The next celebration will be Valentine’s Day.
This week we worked on letter Rr, the color green, journals, sequencing,
and numbers. We have also been working on our costumes. There’s lots of
glitter and glue in TEDDE Town this week and next!! We are finally finished
with our reindeer pictures which will be laminated and sent home as placemats
for you. On Friday we learned about Hanukkah and made a little Menorah page
with candle flames. We also began our presents for you. It’s just a little
something to decorate your home.
We also went to music, the library, P.E., and computer lab. We made a
little triangle tree and printed it. I wish it could be in color. Again, we
are using Kidpix, a very great program for our kids. It may be difficult to
find, but it used to be in Staples, Fryes, etc. You may have to go online if
you can’t find it elsewhere.
Thanks to all of you that have visited the Book Fair this year. We had a
very nice family night on Wednesday. The Cougar Band played and we had
stories read by Mrs. Janicek and myself.
Next week will be a bit different with all the holiday activities going
on, and this means a change in schedule. Children need to be well rested with
a good breakfast, snack, and lunch so they can be flexible. We will be having
a special visit on the 16th from Mrs. Claus, a retired teacher, that comes
all dressed up and reads to the children. (It’s a BIG surprise.)
I know I tell you this a lot, but I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your children.
They are so ready to show their feelings and I hear them give nice
compliments to each other every day. It is an absolute pleasure for me to
come to school. I hope that your child feels that way also, and that you are
at peace knowing that your child is in a happy atmosphere.
I’d like to remind you that Candy Cane Lane opens this Saturday night.
It is so fabulous when Santa gets there and waves his magic wand towards each
home and one by one each house is lit. I just love our little town with
special things like this. Get there by 6:45 if you want to see Santa arrive
on the fire engine. VERY COOL!!
In the last TEDDE Times I told you that I would be busy finishing things
up at my parents’ home. We closed the door for the last time on Monday
evening. I am so thankful that I have had my sisters, husband, and son to
help me through these last years of caring for our parents and then selling
our childhood home. I thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts as you
knew I was going through this emotional time. I really do appreciate it very
much.
Blessings to all ~ Mrs. M.
