Homework

BLOG NOTES: Be sure to view our new blogpost on sentence combining! Use it to
help you with your homework. It has some wonderful sentences written by
students in our class.

The blog is a great way for the students to practice writing skills. All
comments MUST be proofread by a parent. The students also love to have their
parents comment!

This week we will continue reading Badger Claws of Ojai, a novel about a
Chumash Indian boy. The spelling lists we will use have been developed around
this book. We will not have weekly reading tests during the reading of the book.

Spelling: 1 time each word, sentences for hotter and scraped with
parent's signature. Use sentence combining. That means two complete
sentences combined with a comma and a conjunction like and, but,or
so,! Each part must have its own subject.
(Use the blog examples to help you.)

Language Arts: No worksheet, but remember, your puppet is due tomorrow!!
Instructions for a book report project were sent home last
Monday and should have been signed. Keep them at home and work
on your puppet project, due 12/18.

               Month 3 Reading Counts deadline - 12/18.
(Remember, a book tag summary must be completed for each book!)

Math: Lesson 12.3, one side!

Now is the time to have multiplication facts memorized.
The first timed test was Friday, 12/4. We will take a test each
Friday for four more Fridays. Your goal is to complete it with 95%
accuracy in less than 5 minutes.

Reading Counts: Bring a Reading Counts book to school every day. This same
book is to be taken home for 20 minutes of independent silent reading at home.
Month 3 for Reading Counts ends on December 18th. 3 books = A, 2 books = B, 1
book = C. For the first deadline, no written work will be required. Next
month a short summary will be required for each book. Instructions and forms
have been be given in class.

Please make sure your child has a Reading Counts book at all times.
Remember that the schoolhouse icon on the homepage will take you to the
Chaparral School website. I have a page on this website as well, with some
additional information and documents that can be downloaded. In addition, you
can access the Reading Counts list from the school website. You can find it by
going to Learning Links and clicking on Chaparral Library.
